Lydia Beljan’s passion for writing began at a very young age. She began reading at age five. When she was in the first grade, she wrote her first story. Lydia was a writer and editor on her high school paper. She was Editor-in-chief on her community college paper as well. After receiving her associate’s degree from Manatee Community College, Lydia attended Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Tampa, Florida. Upon completion of the school she spent some time working in outdoor television. At John Brunson Outdoors, she was a production assistant, who filmed, edited, designed, and did closed captioning. At JBO, Lydia realized the need to finish her Bachelor’s degree, so she left the television industry and enrolled in classes at University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
Since her time at USFSP, Lydia has developed her personal writing style. She’s written on topics ranging from roller derby to vinyl records. She has also developed admiration for the design industry. This year Lydia’s designed a tattoo magazine, and has developed her own webpage. She will receive her degree from USFSP in August 2010.
Lydia hopes to find a career using all aspects of her media capability. Her future goal is to work as a publisher and write a few books.
Lydia currently lives in Bradenton, Florida with her husband, Chris, and cats, Moose and Dusty. She is a native Floridian. She grew up watching sunsets on the beach. Lydia loves to read and listen to loud music.
